Guidelines for participation

Welcome to id21 Health's online discussion on the impact of tobacco control on development. Click here for instructions on how to join the discussion. Once you have joined and the discussion begins, you can contribute by sending your comments to tobacco@lyris.ids.ac.uk.

The discussion will last six weeks. Three phases will each cover a different topic. A short summary of each phase and a final report will be available online and emailed to all participants. The final report will also be available in hard-copy format.

PLEASE LET EVERYONE KNOW WHO YOU ARE: send a short (around 30 words) introduction including your name, affiliation and country with your first posting to the discussion. We will add this summary to all your further postings.

Please note that following advice from key participants, the moderators have decided to exclude representatives of the tobacco industry from this discussion.

When posting a message, PLEASE:

1. Be brief and to the point.
2. Avoid email attachments and HTML coding.
3. Keep comments relevant to the current topic; use a descriptive subject header.
4. Avoid slang, idioms, jargon or bad language.
5. Do not post offensive or inflammatory messages.

id21 will moderate the discussion. We will review incoming messages for relevance to the current topic. When traffic is especially heavy, we will select a representative group of messages for posting, giving priority to first-time contributors. Messages will be sent out as a batch once a day. If you would prefer to receive the messages combined in a single daily email, send an email to lyris@lyris.ids.ac.uk with the message:

set tobacco digest

Please note that the moderators will refuse to post any message that they consider to be in violation of the above rules. id21 also retains the right to make copies of the messages posted to the list as part of the normal process of archiving the discussions and to publish in whole or in part the messages posted to the list.

If you wish to UNSUBSCRIBE, send an email to lyris@lyris.ids.ac.uk, with the message:

unsubscribe tobacco YourFirstName YourLastName
e.g. unsubscribe tobacco Emily Smith

Unsubscribe instructions are also given at the bottom of each Tobacco list message.

If you wish to CHANGE your address for receiving messages, please unsubscribe as above and then send a message from your new address to lyris@lyris.ids.ac.uk, with the first line:

subscribe tobacco YourFirstName YourLastName
e.g. subscribe tobacco Emily Smith
