March 1998 Insights Issue #25Back to "Knowledge as capital: a World Bank view" A task manager is in Yemen and needs a methodology for analysing an education information system. He contacts the Human Development network anchor person, who during the day identifies a project in Kenya as the closest model, together with a critique of its strengths and weaknesses. By the following day, the task team in Yemen receives the Kenya model. This process used to take up to six weeks. In the near future, the Kenya model will be accessible in the KMS (Knowledge Management System) online, allowing the client to get the answer in minutes. The Bank is rapidly building up its KMS towards full coverage with a high speed global satellite network. |
