KIT (Royal Tropical Institute) is a knowledge institute in the
Netherlands working internationally in the field of development
studies. Kit Library offers one of the world's largest collections
of scientific and popular books and journals, articles and maps
concerning developing countries in the world. KIT Information
services offers information facilities to those working in the
field of development. There are four themes for which we compose
special information products, such as CD-Rom's, databases and
resource books: sexual and reproductive health, hiv/aids, gender
and women and agriculture and environment.

Learning for Sustainability
The Learning for Sustainability website provides an on-line guide for government agency staff, researchers, NGOs and other community leaders wanting to improve social learning and collective action initiatives to support sustainable development. A central section of this site links the reader to a range of guides, tools and checklists that can be drawn upon for guidance in this area to address issues such as building participation and engagement. It is relevant for those working in a number of sectors such as environment, public health and education. The site also aims to provide links to resources that can be used across sectors.

Connect
The purpose of livelihoods connect is to support and influence knowledge
sharing and networking to advance people-centred approaches to alleviating
poverty. It is aimed at practitioners and policy makers and offers
sustainable livelihood lessons, key documents, distance learning,
guidance sheets, tools, hot topics, links, announcements and queries.

Department of Social Policy and Administration
The Department of Social Policy and Administration's research
is extensive and interdisciplinary. It applies a range of social
science disciplines to the study of social policy issues. Special
research centres have been established within the Department to
study voluntary organisation, health, education, personal social
services, and city design (see separate entries). The Department
also has close links with research at LSE on housing and social
exclusion.
